Wrist identity bracelet On watch link type expandable strap Engraved (contemporary old engraving) 'A Jones RAF 1211847' Name plate marked 'Sterling silver' reverse With research details 1211847 Sergeant (Wireless Operator / Air Gunner) Aeron Jones 10 Squadron RAF was killed in action 14 May 1943 aged 22 years. The son of Rees and Margaret Ann Jones of Dowlais, Glamorgan he now rests in the Amsterdam New Eastern Cemetery, Netherlands. Halifax II (DT732 ZA-X) of 10 Squadron was detailed to bomb Bochum on the night of 13/14 May 1943. A fairly junior crew piloted by F/Sgt J F Mills the aircraft took off from Melbourne at 2351 and was shot down by a German Night Fighter crashing into the Ijsselmeer. F/Sgt Mills has no known grave. Very Good Condition
