is a very beautiful SIMPLEX Copper Tea Kettle Made in England The bottom of the kettle is recessed approximately an inch and t are coils contained in the bottom outer ring that are intended to hasten the boiling process. Underneath is engraved: THE "SIMPLEX" PATENT KETTLE GUARANTEED SOLID COPPER MADE IN ENGLAND PATENTS N os90 REG oN o 786743 T are also numbers engraved into the side of the spout. T is a ball and valve inside the spout as part of the whistling mechanism that can be heard moving about when you lift the kettle to pour. These kettles are solid copper with a pure tin lining for excellent heat conduction. The handle appears to be brass and wood and the knob on the cover looks like wood. The lid also has patent nos engraved along the rim. The kettle stands approximately 9 1/2 inches tall and the bottom is 7 1/2 inches in diameter. The kettle appears to be new and unused, and had a orange tag that had some instructions for use on the gas burner attached by a red string to the handle, but the paper was very old and the tag has come off during my photo taking of the kettle. I will include it with the kettle. Kettle is from an estate auction and I don't know its age, but it is in beautiful condition - perhaps just a wipedown is needed. GREAT COLLECTIBLE or Perfect for use in your Kitchen Now!
