301A Singer Slant-Needle Sewing Machine in Shiny Soft Cream and Beige with Trapezoid Tweed Carrying Case, Attachments, ManualSinger's first slant-needle domestic sewing machinePossibly Singer's most popular vintage full-sized model -- its body is aluminum like the Featherweight, with an integral carrying handle, but it has a stronger gear-driven motor inside the housing which makes maintenance easier, no belt and it has the same bobbin case as the Featherweight which makes it highly sought after.This was Singer's first slant-needle domestic sewing machine. The slant makes for a strong straight stitch and places the point of fabric contact closer to the sewer for easier viewing. It's not noticeably different to use than sewing on any low straight-shank machine. All the same familiar Singer feet are available in slant-shank versions. This machine has reverse function, and can do zigzag and buttonholes with the relevant attachments (zig zag and buttonhole attachments not included). It has a drop-feed for doing embroidery, darning and free quilting (no feed cover required).This short-bed 301 is in lovely vintage condition. The lacquer is glossy, the chrome shines, and there are only normal signs of usage wear. It comes with the original box of attachments.
