What a gorgeous vintage Singer Featherweight sewing machine! This little beauty, model 221-1, is prized by collectors. I purchased this machine from a reputable dealer, who also recently completely reconditioned this machine for me. I have used it only a few times since then, so you can be assured it is in perfect running order. What I find most amazing about this machine is all the wonderful attachments and what they can do! The lucky buyer will receive all of the following: 1. foot hemmer --makes a narrow hem, can also do a hem and sew on lace simultaneously 2. adjustable hemmer --makes hems in variable widths from 3/16" on up 3. multiple slotted binder --applies folded or unfolded bias binding in multiple widths, can also apply binding and piping in a single step 4. edge stitcher --used to stitch very close to the edge of fabric without bunching it; can also attach piping and binding, and can make French seams and tucks 5. gatr --does shirring 6. ruffler --makes and attaches ruffles in one step, can also do plaiting (pleated ruffling) All of these attachments come in their original box, which, as you can see in the photo, shows some wear, especially on the corners. I never tried any of these attachments, but I hope the new owner will have fun experimenting with them! My sewing tends to the simple, and I wanted this machine for its perfect forward and backward straight stitching. In addition to all of the above attachments, the buyer will also receive two screwdrivers, 4 bobbins, a tube of sewing machine oil in its original box, a key to lock the carrying case, the original owner's manual, AND two interesting magazine articles on caring for this machine. One is from Woman's Day magazine and is dated 1949; the other is dated 1942 and is from the Farm Journal and Farmer's Wife. Nostalgia at its best! The machine has a shiny black casing that is in good condition but has some scratch marks from pins. The gold scrolling is intact. T is a gold plate (which is in excellent condition) on the front of the machine that reads "The Singer Manufacturing Co." in the center, surrounded by "A Century of Sewing Service, 1851-1951". The serial number on the bottom is AJ891763. The machine and all of the attachments and items I've mentioned so far come in a black carrying case. T is a little compartment on one side, just under the lid, to hold some of the attachments. The detachable electrical cord and foot pedal are stored in the lid of the carrying case. The carrying case is in good condition with some minor scratches and wear on the corners. It closes easily and securely. The case does have a slight musty odor, which is normal for an item of this age. Speaking of odors, t is no smoking in my home. Finally, the buyer will also receive the special table, made just for this model machine. It has a piece that is removable, and the machine fits into that space for use. The table measures 30" square and has collapsible legs. You can see in the last two photos that the table has a number of stains (most notably a large round one on the removable section) and scratches, some of which are quite noticeable. The table still has its original finish. It could easily be refinished and restored to its original beauty. Now to the nitty-gritty details: T will be FREE SHIPPING for these items. I will bear the complete cost for all packing materials and shipping charges. I will pack the machine in a separate package from the table, and both will be meticulously protected. Or, if you live nearby, feel free to pick your items up at my home (arrangements will be made after auction ends). I can accept PayPal or a money order. Payment MUST be received no later than JULY 24 (7 days from the end of the auction) so that I can ship before leaving town for vacation. Phew--that's all the details I can think of, but I may have forgotten something. Please email me if you have any questions! Thanks for looking and reading all of this!
