Welcome to The Old Above I sell restored vintage lighting. What I love is bringing fixtures back to their original appearance. I don’t alter them, add parts, change the colors, or anything. I’m very pleased to offer this single Early Electric brass sconce, circa 1905, and with a classic Holophane prismatic shade! The sconce is newly rewired and with a new paper insulator. I only gently polished the brass so as not to remove the all-important patina. Lovely. The shade has a wonderful ruffled edge. The shade fitter is by Hubbell, and has those sweet rosette style screws. The turn-key switch is by P&S. LOOKING FOR MORE EARLY ELECTRIC FIXTURES? Please Early Electric Wholly restored, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS : The fixture accepts one standard base 60W bulb. The brass has been polished but not so much as to remove the patina. It has not been lacquered. COLOR : Brass with patina. SIZE : With shade, the fixture extends from the wall about 10-inches, and is about 9-inches high. The shade is 6-1/2-inches wide with a 2-1/4-inch fitter. The wall canopy is 4-1/2-inches diameter. CONDITION : The only issues are quite minor. The brass arm has a ding (see images). There are a few flea bites (and I mean bites) to the ribs of the shade. The socket is original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulator. SHIPPING : Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE! Yippee! NOTE : After payment is received, I ship within 7 days. TIPS TO BUYING VINTAGE LIGHTS ON EBAY SCALE. I believe that scale is everything. If the vintage fixture you buy is too small (or large) for your room, it will not look right no matter how beautiful it is. A fixture that is, say, 12-inches wide was meant for a smaller bedroom or hall. A 16-inch wide fixture was meant for a normal size living/dining room. All this presupposes that you do not have a mansion! If so, you would need much larger fixtures. McMansions also have bigger rooms than most pre-WWII homes. INSURANCE. Beware of sellers who state: I am not responsible after shipping. Or: If you don’t take out insurance I am not responsible. Both these statements are contrary to new eBay policy. Every seller IS responsible for the safe delivery of anything they ship. If you receive an item that has been damaged during shipping, first contact the seller and request a 100% refund including shipping (it helps to send images of the damage). If the seller refuses, or only offers a partial refund, contact either eBay or Paypal and file a Not As Described claim. If this claim is granted, you will be fully refunded and the seller will be charged. Insurance ONLY helps the seller. If the item was indeed packed properly (in my experience 99% of damaged items are the fault of poor packing and not poor shipping) the seller can get reimbursed by filing an insurance claim.
