HIGHLY collectable early 1800's inlaid mahogany single section tea caddy in fine condition. Measures approximately 4 ½" x 4" x 4 ½". The entire carcass is quite possibly constructed of solid oak (the base certainly is) with an outer skin of thick mahogany of slightly varying thickness...These two factors generally being a good indication of the age of the piece. No missing or replaced veneer bar some loss to the rosewood escutcheon as to be expected due to use of a key. The top features inlaid rosewood with brass band surround, all believed to be original and in excellent condition. All edges keen. Top closes square. Hinges and lock in fine condition with TWO working keys supplied. The interior has at some point in time been nicely relined though as can be seen from the photographs (back left corner) the original foil lining is present and it may be possible to remove the replacement lining if the winning bidder prefers. Single section caddies are actively sought after by collectors and this example would make a welcomed addition to any collection. Unpacked weight 0.4Kg ANY ITEM HAVING A PACKED WEIGHT IN EXCESS OF 2 ½ Kg COULD BE SHIPPED OVERSEAS AT A CONSIDERABLE SAVING ....IN MOST CASES PACKAGES UP TO 10Kg WILL COST THE SAME AS FOR 2 1/2 Kg THUS IN EFFECT IF MORE THAN ONE ITEM IS PURCHASED POSTAGE WILL BE FREE!!!!!!!!!
