I got these large, stunning moccasins from the Roger Nessley collection a number of years ago. T were several ceremonies that moccasins with the beads on the bottom could be used for and a wedding was one. Sometimes in a wedding, the beads were danced off after the wedding ceremony itself. These must have been taken off and carefully stored away instead because they are in excellent condition and I see no bead loss anyw They are all hand sewn on home-tanned buckskin using cotton thread and small glass seed beads.I believe them to be from the first half of the 1900's. They have the classic white background with a Sioux-green infield on the top of the toe with a stylized moccasin/tepee design set into it. T are more geometric mountain designs going all around the sides of the moccasins with an echo pattern on the bottom to line up with the mountains on the sides. T are also little pink and blue fork designs indicating change. Along the center of the bottom are 3 stylized morning star designs. They are beaded all the way up the side of the cuff, w t is a delicate row of beadwork along the top cuff opening. T is another row of red beadwork w the top and bottom of the moccasins join. They measure 11 inches from the heal to the toe and about 4 1/2 inches across the widest part of the cuff opening. They stand about 3 inches tall at the cuff. Please only bid if you are serious about buying and paying for the item. Your bid with Ebay is a binding contract.
