ITEM FOR AUCTION: The Collector's Trove has Sir Huey's Catalog 1978 for auction! CONDITION: The item is in GOOD- condition as far as general wear (see NOTES ON CONDITION below). Cover has a number of medium score-marks, and deep indentations. Spine area is heavily scuffed and scored. Pencil writing marks throughout. Light staple rust. DESCRIPTION: This is a Sir Huey's Catalog 1978. Cool catalog and an excellent resource for the available games of the day. This is from the personal collection of Dennis Sustare! The Collector' s Trove has been authorized to auction this and thousands of other items from the collection of B. Dennis Sustare. These items were acquired by Dennis over 60 years of amateur and professional involvement in war games, strategy games, card games, board games, console games, arcade games, computer games, and role-playing games, some 4 years of that time spent as a designer for Coleco. Each Numbered lot comes with its own unique Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by B. Dennis Sustare himself! Dennis started his long life of gaming with his parents and grandparents, playing pachisi, Chinese checkers, rummy, mahjong, canasta, bridge, and cribbage. He learned chess at the age of 13 and quickly became obsessed with it. With his cousins, he played card games, Sorry, and elaborate role-play during the late 40s and early 50s. By the time he was at Caltech as an undergrad he was heavily involved with board games. Soon he discovered Tactics II and Gettysburg, playing them to the detriment of his schoolwork. Eventually, Dennis dropped out of college to join the Navy as an electronics technician. Unfettered by his schoolwork, he had much more free time to pursue playing a number of Avalon Hill wargames aboard ship such as: Chancellorsville, Afrika Korps, Civil War, U-boat, Bismark, and Midway, the naval games being played the most. He learned go and also added pinochle and acey-ducey to his repertoire of card games. After mustering out, Dennis made another run at college, this time at the University of Texas. In no time he was playing board games, although more restrained, playing Guadalcanal with his friend Charlie, a cartographer. This is when Dennis started his game design avocation, creating rules and counters to be played on the maps created by his friend. Among their many designs were variants for Panzerblitz (and later, Panzer Leader) and a never published 3-player wargame of the American Civil War in New Mexico, with the three players being the Union, the Confederacy, and the Indians (with semi-hidden movement). Upon graduation with a BA zoology, he went on to grad school in biology at the University of Wisconsin at Madison during the Fall 1967 semester. Due to his proximity to Lake Geneva, Dennis started attending Gen Con in 1968 and soon became deeply involved with the local wargaming scene. By the early 1970s he became involved in extensive play of the original Dungeon & Dragons rules on the Madison campus with a small group of grad students.
