RARE SET OF SIX GEORG JENSEN STERLING LARGE OVAL SOUP/DESSERT SPOONS
VERY LOW RESERVE!!! You are bidding on a rare assembled set of six Georg Jensen sterling oval dessert/soup spoons in the Cypress pattern. Cypress was an award winning service designed by Tias Eckhoff for Jensen c 1954, and was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Georg Jensen. Cypress is one of the most important 20th C. abstract Modernist flatware patterns and continues to be frequently imitated in stainless steel to this day. Each piece is hand made in the shape of an stylized cypress tree and is of the same heavy weight characterizing Georg Jensen silver. The spoons weigh from 40 to 42 grams each, or 1.2 troy ounces to 1.3 troy ounces each, the total of all six is 238 grams or 7.7 troy ounces, and are approximately 7"long. They are signed with the post 1945 Georg Jensen oval mark with "STERLING/DENMARK" and some bear the British import marks for London, 1959-1960. Due to the increasing popularity of modernist silver patterns it is difficult to find groups of place pieces to add to this pattern. The pieces are in gently used condition with light wear acceptable for silver of this age. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your Georg Jensen/Danish Sterling/Modern collection wth this elegant set! Appropriate for collectors of Danish Modern, Eames, Nelson, Noguchi, Bertoia, Aalto, Wegner, Juhl, Jalk, Klimt, Wanscher, Dansk, Quistgaard, Royal Copenhagen, Bernadotte, Modernism, 50's, 60's etc.
