Six MEXICAN PRINTS by BETANZOS FOLK ART Market

I am pleased to offer for sale a collection of six lithographs by a young Mexican painter Betanzos. The inside cover states, “Betanzos is a young Mexican painter whose intimate studies of Mexican folk ways have created a large following on both sides of the Rio Grande. This portfolio includes some charming aspects of the market vendors at their trades. The birds, flowers and pottery are just a few of the articles that contribute to the color and variety of the famed Mexican market place.”

These prints would be fabulous framed, matted and displayed in a Spanish or Southwestern décor. If you love bright bold colors these are the prints for you.

The prints measure 17” by 13”. They are all in very good vintage condition inside the paper cover which was marketed by The Broadway and retailed for a mere $2.98. I could not find any information on this artist. I did find a seller who identified these prints as being from the 1940’s. T are some frying of the edges of some of the prints and one with a ¼” tear on the side margins. From the back side of the prints t is some discoloration similar to that of a damp water mark, but it does not affect the prints on the front side. The prints are on good quality heavy paper. As you can see in my photos the prints look excellent and ready for framing after all these years.
