anonymous, housed in a pressed paper case, with a period inked manuscript label applied to the pad: Nat. Stein -- and friend, late of the Salt Lake Road Expedition, Charles Cavarley Bangs. taken at Central City Oct. 26.1861. We have been unable to discover the further identity of these two gentlemen, but the label provides intriguing information about the significance of the image.
