I have owned this bench for over 30 years, it was the perfect match for my D.W.Karn pump organ, which I recently sold. Most of the time, in antique stores and in people's homes, you will find a pump organ with a padded or swivel piano stool, or a leather-topped piano bench. These are not meant to be used with a pump ogan, however. In his wonderful book, The American Reed Organ, by Robert F. Gellerman, (Vestal Press, 1978) he explains: "Benches especially made for reed organs have become extremely rare. Many reed organ were originally sold with such matching benches, but over the years they have all but disappeared. A proper reed organ bench has the seat tilting forward slightly to give better support while working the pedals. Some manufacturers furnished the familiar piano stool with a swivel seat, a rather precarious perch from which to pump the bellows" I believe this organ bench is somew between 80 to 100 years old or more. It is in beautiful shape and has served me well for 30 years. Immediate Payment is due upon end of auction. PayPal only.
