You are bidding on a No Reserve Auction for an old Slingerland snare drum.

Look close at the pictures they are of the actual drum you will receive. I am not a drum expert so I took this to a friend that knows more than I do and he took it apart while I took notes; here is what he had to say.

The drum is an old Slingerland. The basic drum itself appears to be from a different era than the badge and upon close inspection the badge looks to have been put on the drum by someone other than the factory.

The “throwoff” appears to be from the 50's era and looks complete, the strainer is not original it has Rogers stamped on it. The mute looks original and complete. The “wrap” is in excellent condition and there are no “extra” holes anywhere in the body, at least none that aren't being used.

The inside of the shell has been re-lacquered and it looks like there has been putty applied to it but it was done a long time ago, sealing all of the hardware in place. The hardware itself looks to be nickle plated.

That was all he told me so if you want more information pleas ask questions. He seemed to thing that in parts alone the drum would be worth $200 and he told me that if it doesn't sell for that I should take it apart and sell the parts – he then itemized the parts by saying:

$50 for the Badge

$50 for the Mute

$50 for the Throwoff

$25 for the rods

$25 for each rim

and so on.

I look at this as a project because I really couldn't find anything exactly like it, so here it is – Being sold as a project or parts drum, what I believe to be a 1950's Slingerland Snare Drum!
