Slingerland Radio King Snare drum 1940s celebrity owned
Sold For:
This auction is for a 1940s Slingerland Radio King snare drum in Marine Pearl finish.
When I bought this drum a few years ago, it's previous owner was the great jazz drummer Barrett Deems, who played with Louis Armstrong. The drum came with Barrett's signature on the snare head, but unfortunately I haven't been able to locate it. Since buying this drum, I have handled with the utmost care and only used it once. When not in use or admiring the drum, I have stored it at room temperature. Drum specifications: - Dimensions: 7" x 14" - one-piece maple shell - 16 Beavertail lugs - aluminium cloud badge - 3-point strainer (I have the strainer arm even though it's not pictured) - new Puresound snare wires fitted This is a very functional snare drum that is also a wonderful collector's item.
