Best of all, not only is this from a business that has a terrific history, but it's dated -- this was given away to celebrate Christmas 1900, and New Years 1901. No guessing about this one! A fairly prolific brewer in this historic town west of Chicago, it produced "Casper's Superior" beer and other brands.A nice history can be found : /elgin_eagle_Brewing.htm.The jug measures just under 6" to the lip, and with the cap on, add another half inch. In extraordinary condition for an antique jug. No chips or cracks. T is crazing and resultant light staining as you can see in the pictures ... terrific character. One glaze pop along the edge between the brown and natural glazes isn't a chip, it just isn't glazed and shows the stoneware underneath. Cap is threaded and goes on tightly. No maker's markings. A little dust in the inside edge of the handle. If you collect advertising jugs, Elgin history, or brewery history, you can't let this one slip away!International bidders: this must ship priority mail and be insured for full value -- we do not "adjust" customs forms and tfore full value will be declared. Please do not ask us to do otherwise. Say Hello to a Good Buy! .... We make estate shopping in the Windy City a BREEZE! .....
