This doll is 9 ½ inches tall and is wearing what I believe is her original dress, or close to it. The dress is a handmade cotton dress with tiny flowers. The long straight dress which goes to her ankles has a small bit of lace around her neck. It closes in back with snaps. Her apron matches and I may have taken her clothes off for the first time. They are more soiled in the areas that show, but since it is just surface dirt, should brighten up nicely, if you want to wash them. Her body is made of light pink muslin and is stuffed with sawdust. It is very firm and appears quite sturdy. I do not believe she was played with much since her legs are still stitched together just above the ceramic legs. Her lower legs are a bit crude looking, as was with most of these ‘dollar dolls’, and the painting on one is much different than the other, although they are both the same mold style, have black painted on boots and are obviously original. Her lower arms are china and in good shape with no chips and indentions for fingers. Her shoulder head is free of cracks and chips. The only flaw I see is at the tip of her nose, and just to the side of it, are tiny firing specks. Again, as many other small dolls of this era have. Her facial painting is nice and bright with rosy cheeks, a tiny red mouth that curls up just a bit at the corners for a slight read more
