Top of Stack Mustard Firkin
Description
Up for auction is this wonderful firkin that has been painted within the last few years in a mustard yellow and then heavily distressed for a very time worn look.
The firkin is in excellent clean condition. I would guess the age to be no older than the earlier than the 1940's to 1950's.
The firkin measure's 5 3/8 inches tall without the handle, 4 7/8 inches across the top and 5 3/8 inches across the bottom. The inside is in excellent clean condition, one grandma would have been proud to have in her pantry. Also pictured, are other firkins that will be up for auction. The one right under the mustard firkin is one painted in yellow ochre. A popular colonial color used in murals and stencilling. You can see the slight variance in color between the two.
If not displayed in a stack, this would look great sitting on a cupboard, counter, butcher block, in the bath or anyw you can think of. Fill it with natural fall things like acorns, tiny gourds, pinecones, and for the Holidays, it will look great with a feather tree, or small primitive tree, pinecones, greens with an electric candle in the middle, primitive snowballs, cookie cutters, etc... This is why I like firkins so much, t are so many ways you can use them to decorate.
