This small, good quality, solid silver mug is of baluster form, with a simple loop handle, plain thumb rest and stands on a stepped, spreading, circular base. Apart from the usual light surface marks and one very shallow dint near the handle, hardly noticeable and commensurate with age and use, the mug is in very good condition for 68 years old, with no damage or repairs that I can see and is without a monogram or inscription. It measures approx. 7.4 cm high to the rim, 7.9 cm high to the top of the handle, 6.2 cm across the top, 5.2 cm across the base and weighs 87 grams / 2.79 troy oz. The assay office is Birmingham, with the date letter for 1943 and the maker’s mark for Deakin & Francis. A lovely, little mug to own and use, add to your collection, or, since silver is self sterilising, ideal as a gift for a child!
