Beth Smiddy "Art is my happy place." As a small child I can remember coming home from school and upon opening the door of the house smelling the oil paints knowing my mother was consumed in another painting. I have followed my mother’s love of art. Even though I have deep respect for oils I also enjoy watercolor as well as acrylics. I love the rich deep colors and textures that I get from oils. Many times, along with my brushes I pick up my palette knife to get the right feel or mood I am trying to get across. I enjoy a variety of subjects from landscapes to women and children in gardens to still lifes. My personal challenge, is to create a painting that excites me when I finally step back from my labors and see what I have created. This is a gift I truly enjoy and LOVE sharing with others. And that makes me smile! My paintings have been included in juried shows such as held by : National Watercolor Society Watercolor West Florida Tropicool Competition in Naples, Florida as well as Renown Regional Medical Center, Reno, Nevada, permanent collection Title: Monterey Waves Size: 9 x 12 by B.
