This Smith Premier, Model 10A, s/n 30262, was used by a public stenographer in the 19teens in Oklahoma City. Double keyboard-- one for capitals and one for lower case letter. Uses two-color ribbon which runs from spools behind the carriage rather than from side to side. Red key at upper left determines color, Typewriter itself is in excellent condition, fully funcional. The case has several dents but is probably the reason the machine is in such good condition. Weighing nearly 40 lbs., this "portable" has its own metal case, 16" x 141/2" x 11" Machine sits on oak base to which the metal top attaches. Top cautions "Be sure hooks are securely fastened before lifting." Ouch!
