For sale is this S&W "Outdoorsman" knife M/N 6020, Serial number 14171. It was designed entirely by Walter "Blackie" Collins, a founding member of the exclusive Knifemakers Guild. The blade is made from modified 440 stainless steel and the final edge is hand honed. This larger sized blade was forged to induce a grain structure that imparts exceptional edge-holding capability. The Full length flat spine blade provides substantial working surface right down to the point. The work-hardened brass guard of the knife is hand fitted and silver soldered to the blade, a technique characteristic of the finest custom made knives. This handle is made from what is known as WessonWood, which is a distinctly grained natural wood that is pressure impregnated with phenolic resin to give it the hardness and durability required for a lifetime of outdoor use. Wessonwood is dimensionally stable, moisture proof and as impact resistant as metal. T is an emergency equipment cavity in the handle which is covered by a knurled brass end cap. Great for storing matches, nylon string, fish hooks etc. The sheath is hand polished, top grain cowhide made in house by S&W craftsman. The knife has a 5 1/2" blade and is 10" overall.
