The South Ledges, Appledore is a vintage impressionism fine art maritime painting featuring a harbor on Appledore Island off the coast of Maine. About the artist: Frederick Childe Hassam was a prominent and prolific American Impressionist painter, noted for his urban and coastal scenes. Hassam was instrumental in promulgating Impressionism to American collectors, dealers, and the museums. Measures 6 1/2" across. Chain included. Very good condition.. there are no cracks, chips, or scratches but there is a small bit of trauma to the bottom on the frame and a small 3/16" by 1/2" area of the glass just above the metal rim. The damage is inside the glass, there are half circle lines like a rainbow... it can't be felt on either side of the suncatcher and it does not show when light is shining through.. it can only be seen when held flat under the light at a slight angle. This suncatcher is signed "Smithsonian Institution Glassmasters" and also "Childe Hassam" on the right edge at about four o'clock. Insurance coverage is included read more
