This specimen measures 2 7/8" x 2 1/4" Wide x 1 1/4" Tall, and weighs 6oz. It is a crust of gorgeous bubbly (botryoidal) SMITHSONITE, which is 2 tone: light bluish-green with golden on top of part of the specimen. On grey & white matrix. From Santa Eulalia, Mexico SMITHSONITEChemical Composition: ZnCO3 Zinc Carbonate Hardness: About 5 Crystal Habit: Hexagonal. Crystals rare - rhombohedral or scalenohedral. Usually botryoidal, reniform, mammillary, stalactitic, incrusting, granular. Color: White, gray, colorless; green or blue with copper; yellow with cadmium; pink or purple with cobalt or manganese; brown with iron hydroxides. Lustre: Vitreous Streak: White Fracture : Uneven, Splintery Often Associated with: Galena, Cerussite, Azurite, Malachite, Hemimorphite, Anglesite, Pyromorphite, Misc: Many varieties fluoresce.
