"Northern Hunter" By Art Wilson Description "Northern Hunter" An Original Creation By Art Wilson Please be sure to check out my other auctions. I'm offering Free USA & Shippng ************************************************************* Art Wilson (that is me) is NOT Native, Eskimo or Indian. I am very pleased to offer this piece for your review. I spent three days working on it. It depicts a huge Alaskan hunter done in soapstone, with a moose antler carved face and real fur. The piece measures 9 inches wide by 9 inches tall without the harpoon. With the harpoon it is over a foot wide. It is about 4 1/2 inches deep. This shows a moment frozen in time, of the life of an Alaskan hunter. This hunter has a large seal draped over his back and is slightly leaning forward with his harpoon being situated to his side. I don;t offer too many of my higher end pieces like this on ebay, but times are slow. This would greatly exceed $500 in any gallery. Offered with a fraction of that price, no reserve and free shipping to the USA & Canada. Creating new pieces is my primary focus, the more I sell, the more I can create. From my life as a child in the Aleutian Islands, to my adventures as a Chef, I have always had the need and desire to express my inner creative abilities. My thoughts and ideas far exceed the time I have to create my one of a kind works of art. I am a Non-Native,now technically a "former, soon to return to Alaska, Alaskan, artist." All pieces are Alaskan Themed, from my influences below. . " My emphasis is to try and create something you have likely “never seen before” to spark interest in my art. I think outside the box, if you will. I refuse to be categorized in my creative endeavors, for no imaginative thought, or artistic process is off-limits in my attempt to create from my mind’s eye." For most all of my life I have resided in Alaska and create works of art often described as done in the Style of Natives, or Native influenced, I am not Native . My Influences: The greatest single aspect in my artistic creativity is my self awareness and the creativity that comes from within. I recognize no stereotypical containment when it comes to my overall creativity in creating my art. The aspects that have influenced my creativity are numerous: Alaska : The single greatest influence is my history with Alaska, its culture and specifically the many Natives from Alaska and their families I have grown to know over the years. I have resided, worked and shared experiences in many areas about Alaska. This includes many remote villages. I also grew-up in the Aleutian Islands were I developed a deep seeded spiritual connection with this region and its history. I have collected Native art for over twenty years. Art Collector: As an art collector myself, primarily in areas of Alaskan Native, Inuit, Greenland and South American Shamanistic art, are other aspects that influence my creativity. My Beliefs: In many pieces I create, several influential areas will come into my work. This includes my own beliefs that all life is energy and connected.
