This item is being offered as a part of a sale of a portion of my extensive collection of Orders, Decorations and Medals. It is guaranteed to be of original manufacture. The above example of the badge is a version that usually was made in the 1890's for members in Connecticut but is not the one being offered although it is exactly the same model/type. The badge being offered was p urcha sed at an estate sale i n Connecticut and is exactly th e same type as shown above except it appears that badge (jewel) had the original medallions on both obverse and reverse removed or lost (see pictures above). Instead they have been replaced by a lacquered non metal version of the medallions, which does not overly diminish the beauty of the badge but is noticeable up close . Additionally, it appears that the badge has had various enamel work done to restore its original appearance. I could not find any makers marks on the badge to prove it is gold, but I believe it is at least 10 ct from its appearance . With further investigation there might be a jeweler's mark hidden somewhere that I could not see.
