This auction is for an incredible 1840's Victorian Solid 14K Gold brooch prong set with a fully faceted large Citrine Stone! This is a big impressive brooch / broach and must have originally belonged to a wealthy family. The complete brooch measures 1 & 3/4 inches wide by 1 & 1/2 inch tall. The stone itself measures 1 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall by 1/2 inch thick. The entire top surface of the gold brooch is hand decorated with an incredible detailed design. The back of the brooch has an old C clasp. Since this brooch is about 167 years old it does not bear the modern Gold Karat markings. How ever I did acid test the Gold and it tested higher then 14K, but less then 18K. So I would actually put the brooch at more like solid 15K Gold. The entire brooch as photographed weighs a huge 17 grams! How ever obviously I would hate to see this antique brooch be bought for scrap! The stones table does show some wear under close scrutiny. See photos for condition details. I do offer combined shipping. So be sure to check my other listings!
