This is a Very Unique & Special Piece! A true Art Deco Limoges necklace which portrays a lovely peasant girl, it is hand painted & signed M.D Paris (not a reproduction). T is just something about the portrait of this beautiful young peasant girl with her green shimmering head dress & burnt orange peasant dress (both her head dress & peasant dress have this beautiful pearl like sheen to them...quite hard to catch in the photos but simply stunning in person). She seems to gaze up with this incredibly confident & hopeful expression...possibly she understands she is more than just a peasant girl. She is silent, yet beautiful...she has a look of wisdom, yet she is young...perhaps her portrait was painted as a reminder of the true beauty of a woman (femme), which comes from within. The pendant is solid 18k yellow gold (tested...as many older pieces lack this mark) and is signed M.D Paris on the back. This is an authentic hand painted portrait from Paris circa 1920's. It has a delicate gold twirled 18k frame that is simply delightful. The necklace itself is solid 14k gold (marked 14k & Italy on the clasp) The pendant measures approx. 3/4" without bail (in length) 5/8 (in width), with the bail just over 1". The necklace measures approx. 16 1/2" in length. A completely darling piece from the past coming from one of the most charming cities in the world. A true treasure!
