　　　　　　　　　　　 EXTRAORDINARY SOLID IRON-NICKEL METEORITE SPECIMEN 　 Approximate Weight :160 0Grams 　 Size/Dimensions : Approximately " 6.6 x4.1 " inch 　 DETAILED DESCRIPTION Originally covered with surface oxidation, dirt, have been partially cleaned to reveal some of the more awesome regmaglypts (thumbrints), ablations caused by the high-intensity friction (heat) during rapid descenting into our atmosp, and some of the underlying metal. A small section of the surface of this specimen has been roughly ground away to expose more of the pure metal making up this specimen. 　　 HISTORY 　 Originally Found : Quanxi (guang _she) Province, Nandan (Nan tan) County , China Recorded History : In May 1516, during the Chinese year Jiajing, it was written in the local records that "stars fell from the northwest; five to six fold long, waving like snakes and dragons. They were as bright as lightning and disappeared in seconds." From 1516 until 1958, local Chinese farmers considered the meteorites a nuisance because they interfered with farming, and were a back-breaking pain to move. Over the years, with each succeeding generation of farmers in the Nandan County district, the origins of the meteorites were slowly forgotten, and the meteorites were seen as just piles of useless stones, too heavy to move.
