These sets really are few and far between. You see the odd single place mat, and these fetch up to £100 each, as they can be used and described as teapot stands individually. As you can see in the pictures, the listing is for a cased set of six matching solid silver English hallmarked place mats, made by the renowned Mappin and Webb Ltd (By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen). Each piece bears the makers mark 'MN&WB' for Mappin & Webb Ltd, the anchor for Birmingham, lion denoting sterling silver, and the date letter 'X' for 1972. The mats are 18 cms in diameter. They have red felt bases, and I think they will almost certainly be weighted. The set appears to have had very little or no use; there are just a few extremely minor surface scratches. The sort you have to hold up to the light and look closely. Mentioned for accuracy. Each piece weighs approximately 355g, making a total of 2130g. The box weighs 615g. The total weight for posting is therefore + 2.75kg, so only postage within UK is offered. If there is International interest, please email me, and I shall try to find a price, but would prefer to despatch to UK only, as a cursory look at overseas postage appears prohibitively expensive ( @ £80 - £100 ) Any questions please contact me via Ebay.
