IN FABULOUS CONDITION WITH JUST THE ODD VERY SMALL VERY SHALLOW USAGE DENT AS CAN JUST ABOUT BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS
WHAT MAKES THIS ITEM REALLY NICE IS THE INSCRIPTION INSIDE WHICH SUGGESTS IT WAS GIVEN IN APPRECIATION TO A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERY SCHOOL OF SURVEY BY WHAT I ASSUME TO BE THE REPRESENTATIVE OF ONE OF THE MUSLIM COUNTRIES THE REGIMENT WAS ABOUT TO SAIL FOR, AS ACCORDING TO RECORDS ONLINE, THEIR CAMPAIGN BEGAN IN 1942 BUT THIS DATED 1941; IT READS AS FOLLOWS - "Remembrances from R.A. School of Survey Sergeants Mess. Allah be praised." OF COURSE, THE PRESENTATION COULD JUST HAVE EASILY BEEN MADE THE OTHER WAY AROUND, WITH THE USE OF "ALLAH BE PRAISED" SHOWN AS A MARK OF RESPECT AND POSSIBLY TO ENCOURAGE CO-OPERATION.
THE INTERESTING THING THOUGH IS THE HALLMARK, AS DESPITE BEING INSCRIBED IN 1941, IT IS HALLMARKED FOR BIRMINGHAM IN 1928, ORIGINATING FROM GRAY & WILSON
IT WEIGHS 85 GRAMS AND THE CARTOUCHE ON THE LID IS INSCRIBED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A.E.B
THIS ITEM IS TO BE SENT BY SPECIAL DELIVERY OR COLLECTED IN WHICH CASE PAYMENT MUST BE IN CASH ONLY
