This is a substantial item of solid silver in its own right but will be of interest to Buffalos or East Anglian historians. Measuring 58cm square and weighing 73 grammes. Hallmarked as Sterling Silver (Lion passant), made by A.R, London office (Lion on shield) and the A date mark. The front is skilfully crafted with a buffalo relief and belt. The engraving is clear and deep and on the reverse, is inscribed, "This order of merit & honour of knighthood was presented to Primo John Curling by the members of the Elizabethan Lodge under the Grand Lodge of England as a mark of respect for his services in the cause of Buffaloism and their esteem & regard for him as a Man. April 26th 1877". Some of the corners are a little knocked but overall, this is a fine piece of Buffalo history or a weighty piece of Sterling Silver as a metal for investment.
