Solid Sterling Silver Ornate Pedestal Bowl-Lopez-Taxco Sterling-1210 You are bidding on a beautiful Antique Solid Sterling Silver Ornate Pedestal Bowl from Hilario Lopez Taxco, Mexico. According to informtion found on the Mexican Glitterbox Web site, Lopez was an early Silversmith working for Margot de Taxco. Taxco, Mexico is the center of high end Silver design and manufacturing in Mexico. The area features a great deal of artisans derived from association with Spradling and Sanborns. The "Eagle" form marks were instituted by the Mexican government in 1948. The first example (delineated) was used until ca.1955, the second example (silhouetted) until the late 1960's or early 1970's. The number on the eagle's chest indicates either the city of assay or an individual maker. (eg. Eagle stamp #1 was for Mexico City, stamp #3 was for Taxco). Acquired at an Estate Sale this Covered Butter Dish is in very good condition.
