From the milestone "100 Series" originating in 1957, in which Solido of France pioneered features such as spring suspension, opening doors and tilting seatbacks. All models were to a true 1:43 scale, accurate of line and well finished for their day. They were arguably the first "adult" collectible die-cast vehicles. All examples on auction are original pieces from the 1950s and 60s - not latter-day reproductions. Surely Solido was seeking an unusual subject when they chose to model the ultra-low Harvey Aluminum Special Indy racer of 1963. It was an attractive car, really, and Solido did it justice with their beautiful little model - and a most prolific decal set for its day. Wheels and tyres were unique to the model, being of extreme low profile. Our red example (the model was also offered in light blue) has two or three very tiny paint nicks only, and some light crazing on the wrap-around windscreen - visible in the second photo adjacent to the steering wheel. Wheels, tyres, axles, decals and plating are as new. The original card box is in very good overall shape, with light shelf and handling wear only.
