This is the most coveted of Somerset Maugham limited edition signed books, and just 750 first edition copies were made of this classic, of which this is No. 244. This book is in fine, unread condition, with no marks inside other than Maugham's signature. The spine is a tad bit faded, but much less so than almost every other copy of this book that you will ever see for sale. This great book was also made into a classic movie. The slipcase is toned some and is beginning to neatly split (could easily be repaired) on the sides, but it remains completely intact and is in very good condition. It houses this book very nicely. The slipcase is extremely rare and of the several copies that I see being sold on live auction the past decade, only two had slipcases, and the one I am selling is nicer than those. Starting prices for this book from dealers begin at $1,200 for copies that are much inferior and without a slipcase and range to more than $4,000 (also without the slipcase). A once in a lifetime find a for a Maugham fan, and this would be great addition to any library. I am starting this at $9.99 and see what happens. Free shipping will include full insurance.
