Hi everyone! I thought it "time" to do my first Cardi clock and I tried my best to represent most of the varied coat colors. I have ten different Corgis around the rim, each doing something different. In between them I've made various toys, stars, bones, ribbons, grass and flowers. A banner at the top is handlettered "It's Cardigan Corgi Time!" I've designed this from ceramic clay to be the only one like it I'll ever do. I began with a plain greenware plate, made by pouring liquid clay into a mold. I rolled out clay and sketched the Cardigans onto it in the same way I do my Christmas ornaments. Then I cut out, sculpted in or added on details in clay. I followed the same process for all the other pieces. Intricate painting followed, then everything was attached onto the painted green rim with liquid clay. Two high temperature kiln firings have given this a permanent protective glazed finish. I've signed and dated this, Barbie Sonnett 2007. Measurements: the clock is 11 1/4" in diameter and will stick out from the wall 1 1/2". In the back is a battery powered mechanism that includes a dial for adjustment and a hanger for hanging safely.
