Hello and thanks for taking a peek at this fabulous piece ofvintage audio gear. Offered today is a Sony SQ Decoder/Amplifier SQA-100 manufactured by the Sony Corp of Tokyo, Japan in 1971. This is a real museum piece, complete with its original box, Styrofoam packing pieces, Owners Instruction Manual, and connector cables still wrapped in plastic. The power cord still has the original zip tie in place. The unit itself looks unused. There is not a mark on the piece with the face, back and wood case appearing flawless. I do not believe this unit was ever used…I took it out of the package to photograph and that might have been the first time it has ever been out of the box. The original cardboard box is pretty beat up however and there is a small tear on the back cover of the owners manual. The original warranty card is still attached to the outside of the box. From the owners manual introduction: Sony invites you to a new era of listening via out SQA-100 Decoder/Amplifier. It provides Stereo Quadraphonic sound reproduction from SQ, other type matrices and discrete four-channel programs with any stereo equipment… This compact SQA-100 provides considerable versatility. It does not require an extra back amplifier, because it incorporates a stereo amplifier. Also, the SQA-100 works as a decoder when used with one or more external amplifier (equipped with input jacks such as the tuner, tape or auxiliary input jacks) Other features of the SQA-100 are: four-channel master volume control, phase inverter switch, multi-mode system selector including a 2-4 circuit (to produce an ambient effect to conventional two-channel stereo and other matrix circuit connection jacks for recording and playing two-channel tape recorder and discrete four channel source (four-channel playback tape decks, etc.) I plugged the unit in and it does power up, but I have not tried anything else – that will be up to the proud new owner! Due to age, this piece is being sold as-is with no returns. The SQA-100 is a rare unit…not many turn up for sale these days, and to find one virtually new in the box is practically unheard of…don’t miss this opportunity! Overseas shipping is by Air Mail Only (surface mail is not available!). Overseas shipping will probably be around $85.00 and is by regular air mail that can take anywhere from two and six weeks to arrive. If you do not wait for an invoice before sending payment, you may pay too much shipping! I am sorry about the high shipping cost on this one, but it is a very heavy package that will require and large shipping box and tracking/insurance.
