South West Africa 1985 3rd Decimal Definitive Issue for additional 12s value - final artwork for commemorative cancel, depicting a buffalo head, by artist Sheila Nowers, in black ink on white cartridge paper 102 x 100 mm with transparent overlay with artwork for the wording and date. This was an original essay for the cancel, but was not used in its entirety - part of the design was eventually used on the final cancel. Archive item originally auctioned by Stephan Welz on 24 Oct 2001. Lovely archival type item which hardly, if ever, becomes available to the public, as most items like this are kept by the artist or by the postal administration.
