For sale is one of two fantastic originalPaintings by the California artist Frederick Grayson Sayre that we are selling here in our eBay store.This painting is an original oil on canvas board.It features a wonderfully painted southern California desert dunes scene with various depictions of desert flora against the mighty Sierra mountains rising in the background. The colorations and impressionist brushstroke are wonderful for a small gem of a California landscape.The painting is untitled.It dates circa 1925 to to 1930's in age. It retains its original c1930 arts and craftsgold gold gilded frame with cream wash inner banding.The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner.Condition: Overall good. Surface paint grime/dirt. Could use a good cleaning.Measurements:Frame - 16" x 14"Painting - 10" x 8"BiographyA highly successful illustrator who later became one of California's best known desert landscape painters in both oil and watercolor, Fred Sayre was born in Medoc, Missouri. His only formal art training was several months with portraitist J. Laurie Wallace in Omaha, Nebraska.He first worked in lead and zinc mines and with leather goods and then determined to become an artist.
