SOUTHERN COIN Teaspoon JAMES GEDDY, circa 1800 VIRGINIA

Offered for auction is a Southern Coin Silver teaspoon, approximately 5 and 1/4 inches in length. The spoon is clearly marked "I.G" in a rectangular punch. Cutten (in "the Silversmiths of Virginia") identifies this as one of several marks used by James Geddy, both in Williamsburg and Petersburg, Virginia. The form of the spoon (inferring an age of 1795-1800) would suggest Petersburg. The condition of the spoon is not perfect (some minor toothing to the bowl) but t are no tears, or other major flaws. The mark condition is very nice. The spoon is monogrammed with a block roman "P*C". All things considered, a good example of an sought-after Virgina smith.
The spoon is offered for the ridiculous starting price of 99 cents, and without a reserve. Good luck, and thanks for looking.
