GEORGIA POTTERS MARY & STANLEY FERGUSON WIFE & SON OF BOBBY FERGUSON 6 GENERATIONS OF POTTERS Up for auction today is a beautiful crimson red face jug. The thick, rich glaze is much more even and pretty than the pictures show, it is just so glossy that reflections appear in the picture. This jug measures 6 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches wide. It has the wide "buggy jug" bottom. The condition is excellent with no chips, or repairs just the normal glaze pops and lines. The piece is signed and dated by mother and son. Mary tells me that Stanley turns the jug and then she applies the face. The face on the jug is amazingly detailed. It has a pert nose, and a well defined mouth with three broken dish teeth. The eyes have a fringe of lashes around them and 2 white eyebrows above. The ears stick out. The handle sits to the side as do all Ferguson pieces. I am starting the bidding at a low price with no reserve. This is a heavy jug, about three pounds. I wrap very well to ensure that your package arrives safely, but insurance is available on request, and is suggested.
