Original Glass Plate Negative Passenger Train - Color ado River - D epot - Yuma, Arizona Photographed by H. C. Tibbitts Vintage dry glass plate negative #6137 c.1909 - very good condition, well detailed and good tonal range; some emulsion fading visible around the edges. Plate has no chips or cracks ; about 6 1/2" x 8 1/2". The overall positive and negative scans in this listing are at a low resolution; the details are shown from a higher resolution look at the image. There is no print with this negative; included is the photographer's original paper sleeve in rough condition as shown. Postcard image is shown for reference - the postcard is not included in this auction.Howard Clinton Tibbitts (1863-1937) was a San Francisco based photographer. Starting in 1892, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He photographed extensively in the American West, Canada, and Mexico, documenting landscapes, towns, industry, agriculture, parks, public buildings, and other local scenes to help promote Southern Pacific's passenger service. His work was showcased in the railroad's magazine SUNSET starting with first publication in 1898.
