Detailed Item Description : SOUTHERN PACIFIC/SP advertising booklet describing the first prewar version of that road's great NEW streamliner " The Daylight" - "The Newest and Most Beautiful Train in the West." 12 page foldover booklet brochure, saddle-bound with two staples; vertical format, 3 1/8"w x 6 1/8"h when closed, 6 1/4"w x 6 1/8"h when first opened, 12 1/2"w x 6 1/8"h when opened flat; printed in two colors on medium weight coated stock. Beautiful artist's profile of front end of GS class steam locomotive with classic art deco "Daylight" logo on front cover panel; two artist's renderings of train exterior - one in two colors when first fold is opened and the other in black and white spanning entire width of booklet as its centerspread; one small halftone photo of GS class locos; 5 large halftone photos of interiors of feature cars accompanied by extensive descriptions; 4 halftone photos of sights along the way; stylized route map; stylized system map. Undated, but brochure describes the equipment of the 1937 "Daylight" and mentions no other SP "Daylight" trains which dates it between March, 1937 and January, 1940, at which time other "Daylights" entered service .
