This is a Souvenir Log from the ship S.S. "Westernland" of the Red Star Line, which ran from New York to Antwerp, Belgium. It is likely from the 1930's, and is in excellent condition.

In 1930 the Regina was renamed Westernland on the Antwerp to New York service. In 1935 the Westernland was bought by Red Star Line, Hamburg. After a refit for 550-Tourist Class passengers, the ship continued in the Antwerp to New York service. On November 8, 1936 the Westernland sped to the assistance of the Hamburg-America Line motor vessel Isis, which had run into difficulties in a storm off Lands End. Only one cabin boy could be rescued; the Isis had sunk in the meantime with 39 men on board. In June 1939 the Westernland was sold to the Holland American Line of Rotterdam but kept the same name and route. In May 1940, after the outbreak of war, she escaped to England and became the seat of the exiled Dutch government at Falmouth. In July 1940 she was refitted at Liverpool as troop transport. In November 1942 the Westernland was sold to British Admiralty and sent to London for conversion as a repair-ship. She became a Destroyer Depot ship. In 1946 she was sold to C. Salvesen, Leith. Conversion as a whaler planned, but not carried out. On July 15, 1947 she was sold to British Iron & Steel Corp to be broken up. She was then scrapped at Blyth.
