Souvenir Plastic Havoline Thermometer Century of Progress Chicago 1933-1934 This is a molded, painted plastic replica of the incredible 218-foot-tall thermometer tower built for the world's fair by the Havoline Oil Company. It could be made of Bakelite, but I am not sure. This tower stands about 4 1/2 inches tall. The hexagonal base is about 2 1/4 inches across. It holds the original working thermometer on one of the tower's three vertical sides. It is painted silver and it is in extremely nice condition. It does have some light wear here and there. There is also some glue residue around the thermometer . The lettering that goes around the base reads: A Century of Progress 1933 Havoline Thermometer Tower It was made in Springfield, Ohio by the Ohio Thermometer Co. This is very nice and very hard-to-find piece. All monitors display color a bit differently. The pictures are of the actual item, but due to monitor variations the color of the item may vary from the photos. Please review the pictures carefully. They are part of the description.
