Old Soviet RussianPORTABLE TURNTABLE RECORD PLAYER Presented is an old rare Russian Soviet boxed portable turntable. On the lid inside one can see a manufacturers’ trademark which is MMZ ( Moskovskiy ElelektroMehanicheskiy Zavod ). The model is GP-46U (or GP-55 according to other sources). The abbreviation means Gramafonnaya Pristavka , 46 – is the year of 1946, U – means “ Uluchshennaya ” (modernized). The model does not have (it was never equipped with) an amplifier and loudspeakers. The idea was to make a portable lightweight turntable, so it only has a “Line out” wire which could be connected to a wireless radio set. The model has 2 rotation speeds 33 and 78. Originally it was manufactured for 127 V but t are switches inside which are switched now for 220 voltage. The table turns OK, the needle looks OK. I only could not check the sound as I don’t have the radio to connect to. The bakelite box is in great condition. To sum it up, this is a very nice thing in great condition. Manufactured in Moscow , circa 1955. Approx. size - 11 * 9 * 4,5 in. Condition – used, very good. P.S. I gladly combine the shipping rates. Please, contact me for the info on combined shipping.
