The Mongols in many campaigns faced the different armies who had War Elephants and managed to defeat their foes even against these fearsome animals. It wasn't until around 1398 Timur aka Tamerlane was so impressed with their performance in battle that he went to the trouble of obtaining war elephants for himself to use in his upcoming battles against the Mamluks and the Ottomans, both of whom he subsequently defeated...................................... This is from Spain and my source in Spain said it's made by Andrea licensed to the Planeta DeAgostini name. These are limited production that were offered only through subscription by the major Spanish, Italian Publishing giant.... They ran their course and are now out of production. The quality stands neck and neck with other makers such as King and Country, Andrea, Black Hawk and Britain's Metal. I'd even go as far and say it even holds it own next to the quality and paint of the Connoisseur War Elephants made by artisans out of St. Petersburg, Russia that sell for $1,500.00 to $2K... The War Elephants that are offered from the various companies mentioned above start at a price around $225.00 upwards to $2,000.00. The War Elephant offered here is a great buy being under a $150.00.. The Elephant and the base are made of a firm resin material. The figures are made of metal.
