This Saturday I am Listing Several Auctions of Beautiful, Rare Spanish American War Pinbacks, Pins, Ribbons and several Admiral Dewey items. All Were Acquired Over 30 Years Ago at Various Antique Stores. DESCRIPTION: Up For Auction is a Very Unusual metal SPANISH AMERICAN WAR PIN. The Pin is a highly embossed United States Flag. Inside is an attached yellow paper that reads: TO HELL WITH SPAIN! REMEMBER THE MAINE. The Flag swings open on a very tight spring mechanism, which when released shuts tight. You can see the little spring near the bottom of the flagstaff. No markings on the back to indicate such things as a manufacturer. Has an old soldered closure on the back. T is a tiny manufactured round hole above the top of the spring. You can see this in my photo. I have no idea what purpose this was for. It is only on the front. Maybe something hung t? APPROX. SIZE: In the closed position, not including the flagstaff, the American Flag is 3/4" x 1". CONDITION: The Pin is in Excellent Condition, showing very little wear. A few tiny spots of missing color to a couple of the stripes. The closure on the back is in working order. The flag closes tightly with the spring closure. This Particular Pin Will Be a Great Addition For Anyone Who Collects Spanish-American War Items. The Pin Will Be Carefully Wrapped and Shipped in a Sturdy Box.
