Very rare example of a Spanish Civil War-era Republican Army Infantry âeoeAlferezâe First Lieutenantâe(tm)s Officerâe(tm)s Visor Hat. Hatâe(tm)s interior is complete with well-made padded artificial silk lining has the remains of the hat makerâe(tm)s name stamped to it. Most of writing is not legible due to the original wear. Hat also has original brown leather sweatband. Exterior of hat is made with light brown with a greenish tint light wool material that has some age spots throughout. Hat is complete with a high quality leather chinstrap that is attached to the hat with two âeoefutbolâe style Bakelite buttons. Hat also includes original to the item, red painted brass star emblem and two red painted horizontal brass bars indicating Alferez rank. Hat further includes brass Spanish Infantry emblem to the front. This visor hat has seen use however; it is free of any rips or tears but it does show some soiling and age appropriate patina and wear. Appears to the a US size 7 ½. This item is from a local San Diego area advanced militaria collection that was put together over the last 25 years and is being offered for the first since the early 1980s. This set has been in careful storage for over twenty years and has never been on display in the current collection that it is part of. A very rare opportunity to acquire an original Republican item from the Spanish Civil War, remember that Republican Army items are much rarer than Nationalist Army items.
