The Carmelite Convents of Cuzco, Arequipa and Ayacucho have together received 15 separate donations of antique reliquaries from local parishioners who have asked that they be put on auction to benefit the three Convents Christmas Toy program. You will not see this many antique pieces listed during a one week period on EBay! They are very difficult to find today in Peru and when found, they command a high premium at the antique shops of the Capital City of Lima. You are bidding on the Archangel reliquary from Cusco , Peru ; on the obverse is a painting of Our Blessed Mother and Baby Jesus. Please note that these are original miniature oil paintings done on a thin sliver of copper. Each is a small work of art made by a cloistered nun 200+ years ago. In many cases the glass was broken or missing on these pieces; so we had to have a jeweler carefully replace them, otherwise the pieces are entirely original. Each is encased in a sterling quality silver frame that, although not hallmarked, has been acid tested for silver content. The piece you are bidding on is 2 inches long without the bail and it weighs 47.3 grams. Good luck bidding! Pay for this online auction using BidPay ® - Seller BidPay ID: church-woman
