Stunning Spanish Colonial Wooden Chest superbly Inlaid with real ivory carey and diferent wood tonalities with flowers, and ivies. Stunning box dated by late1880's aprox exquisitly inlaid in marfil, carey, mother of pearl and different wood colors tonalities making this box a unique master piece. We can see in the front two archangels Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel (the same pattern is in the back of the chest), ivies and flowers around the lock. Then on top, we see the Stsima Virgin Guadalupe with four cherubs and flowers blossons and ivies on the sides, T is a St. Michael Archangel on one side of the box and in the other side, we can see St. Gabriel Archangel. Breathtaking inlaid work of wood and real ivory (marfil). This box was used by distinguished Authorities of the Church, Spanish Bishops or nuns to conserve religious objects, as well as documents, manuscripts, etc, the wood is in excellent condition. We also restored the locking mechanism and the hinges, they now work perfectly. The wood is solid all around The box frame is made out of Madera de Nogal wood, and the WOOD inlays are made of Purple Heart, Rum Wood and Fustic.
